What to Consider When Buying a New or Used Shuttle Bus
If you are planning to purchase a new or used shuttle bus, we have created a handy list of features, below, that you might want to consider. Buses are big purchases, and it is important to take the time to give it careful thought before pulling the trigger.
Seating
The first order of business is the seating. How many seats does the bus have, and in what configuration? While it is possible to make modifications to the seating, finding a shuttle bus that is configured exactly the way you want saves time and money. Who will be riding on the shuttle bus? You may want a much different configuration if you shuttling executives to a conference as opposed to shuttling teenagers to camp.
Company to Buy From
Who are you purchasing from? Does the company have a solid reputation? Can the company service the bus? Does the company have a proven track record? If you are buying a shuttle bus, you may need a second one or several. Buy from a company that treats you well and with which you can have a long and happy relationship.
Condition
Consider carefully the condition of the bus. Will it need work? If so, how much? Look at the bus on a lift. How is the drivetrain? The chassis? You will want a shuttle bus that is in good shape or easily and inexpensively repaired.
One other feature to consider is the fuel and the fuel economy. You may want to do some calculations on the price of fuel and how this will impact your bottom line. Doing a little homework before the purchase will save you time, money, and a headache afterwards. Remember the old adage, buyer beware.
