Low-Floor Bus Fosters Inclusion for All Passengers!
Hello, our care home residents benefit from regular outings to parks, shopping malls and restaurants; however I’ve noticed some residents with mobility impairments tend to avoid the bus. I think the time required to load a wheelchair passenger while the other residents are seated and ready to go makes them uncomfortable. Are there any buses available that have a ramp for wheelchair passengers instead of a lift? This would also work great for residents who use walkers.

Joanne, thank you for your inquiry! We’ve heard this concern many times before from Recreational Therapists who worry the benefit of social outings are being passed up by residents who believe they are an inconvenience to others because of their mobility needs. Dynamic Bus Sales is pleased to be the authorized dealer for Arboc Mobility; a low-floor mini-bus manufacturer. Care Homes and Transit Authorities across BC and the Yukon have embraced the Arboc product as it makes loading and unloading of wheelchair passengers quick and easy, without any of the anxiety associated with an elevating lift. A power ramp deploys from the main passenger entrance door, and permits the loading of passengers with mobility aids in a safe and expedient manner.
