A complete list of all the essential safety equipment needed for long-distances buses in western Canada would be beyond the scope of this short blog article. That said, however, we will, today, give you a partial list of the most important safety equipment needed.
First Aid
Any buses that take long-distance trips have to carry comprehensive first aid kits that contain pain relievers, bandages, and instructions for what to do in different emergency medical situations. Some buses also carry defibrillators or AEDs, but the requirement to carry those varies with different provinces or territories.
Weather-Related Gear
Buses traveling in winter on snowy or icy roads or in the mountains need extra safety gear for that. They may need chains, scrapers, emergency blankets, and maybe even a satellite phone, for some particularly remote areas. Again, different provinces and territories may have slightly different requirements.
Emergency Deflectors
A number of items would be required in case the bus breaks down. This gear is important at all times, but especially at night, in remote areas, and in heavy rain or snow. This category includes reflective triangles, flares, and LED beacons to make a disabled bus easily visible to others.
Communication
